Coach Mark VanDerVeen
Coach Mark VanDerVeen is an NCCP Trained Triathlon Coach. Mark's background is in football as a former collegiate player where he played NAIA football at Helena, MT and with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
After football Mark looked to stay active by participating in triathlons. His love of the sport and passion for coaching brought the Falcon Triathlon Club to Foothills Composite High School where the program is now in it's sixth year.
Mark currently competes in tri-it and sprint distance triathlons, CrossFit competitions, Spartan races, adventure races and mountain bike races during the competition seasons.

Coach Jay Langager
Coach Jay Langager is a budding triathlete and our spin coach. Jay's background is in hockey where he played in the WHL, at the University of Lethbridge, and with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.
Jay's love of sport and coaching brought him to triathlons. Jay has co-coached the Falcon Triathlon Club for the past six years and has competed in multiple tri-it and sprint distance triathlons.
Jay's passion is for the outdoors where you'll find him hiking, cross-country skiing and exploring the wilderness as an instructor.

Coach Julia Harris
Coach Julia Harris graduated from the Foothills Composite High School in 2021 and is currently enrolled at Mount Royal University working toward her education degree.
She has been a competitive swimmer for several years and is competing in Lifesaving Sport and sprint distance triathlons. As well as swimming and school she works as a lifeguard and swim instructor.

Coach Halle Bodnarchuk
Coach Halle Bodnarchuk recently graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Law and Society and is currently working towards attending law school in 2024.
Growing up Halle played elite hockey representing Alberta as well as played three years as a collegiate athlete at Carleton University. Three years ago Halle made the switch to pursue triathlon competitively. Halle races draft legal sprint and super sprint distances. This summer she is looking to compete in the World Triathlon Organization’s national and international events.
Other hobbies include any outdoor activities, cooking, and reading.

Coach Kevin Jones
Coach Kevin Jones has always had a passion for sport and got into triathlon to challenge his fitness. Growing up, Coach Kevin played AA American Legion Baseball, hockey, and golf.
Triathlon’s got Kevin out of his comfort zone but he has loved them since his first one, eight years ago. He has participated in multiple Sprint & Olympic distance Triathlons.
He is always finding ways to build capacity in fitness and expand his coaching experiences by acting as an assistant coach with the Falcon Triathlon Club.
